Injured from a defective product

Have You Been Injured From a Defective Product?

When you go to purchase a product, whether online or in the store, you expect it to be safe, never thinking it a defective product. Typically, if a large purchase, we may want to take the time to research its reviews. Smaller ticketed items, we’ll usually wing-it, assuming everything is safe.

However, with all of the government organizations which regulate product safety, some do fall through the cracks. Any Defective product can injure and cause harm, putting consumers in peril.

In 2010, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that over 38 million people sought medical attention from product injuries. These numbers take into account all injuries directly caused by and those injuries related to consumer products.

There are three categories in which defective products can fall under: by design, by manufacture, or by failing to provide adequate instructions or warn of dangers.

If you have been a victim of a defective product, we suggest you follow these steps:

Medical Attention

First and most importantly, seek medical attention immediately if this applies to the situation.

If you fail to seek medical attention sooner than later, the manufacturer could claim the injury wasn’t from their product.

Keep The Product

This is the most important piece of the puzzle. This will be the evidence, moving forward, so make sure to keep it in a safe place and do not manipulate it at all.

Maintain All Records

Start writing everything down. Keep a journal, if you need to. Cases, such as these, can take time, so recording everything related is pertinent to putting a worthwhile case together.

Search for Similar Cases and Product Reviews

You may think that your issue is only relative to you but, many times, it’s not an isolated situation. When researching, you may find there is a class action suit or even a recall on the product. Doing some of your own due diligence may make for a more solid case.
